Summer Clerks
NOTE: Larkin Hoffman has filled its law clerk positions for summer 2012. We will begin recruiting summer 2013 law clerks in August of 2012. Please submit your resume through your school’s on-campus recruiting program or send your resume and cover letter to hr@larkinhoffman.com
Clerking as a law student is a unique opportunity to experience the day-to-day projects, challenges and excitement of a practicing attorney. Each summer, Larkin Hoffman hires a staff of law students who have completed their second year of law school. In the past, many of these clerks have stayed on through the school year and some have continued as associates.
Our summer clerk program is formatted to give students a glimpse into different areas of the law in which our firm specializes. Over the course of the summer, clerks have the opportunity to accompany attorneys in both the courtroom and the board room. Clerks also work together to prepare a presentation on a current legal issue to be given in front of the attorneys.
Our clerks are given the opportunity to work with a variety of attorneys in all of our different departments. But we do not want our clerks to get overwhelmed so each clerk is assigned a mentor. Clerks are encouraged to approach their mentors with questions, concerns, and ideas throughout the summer. Work is assigned through the law clerk manager who monitors clerks’ workloads and ensures that each clerk is given a broad range of opportunities. We understand the importance of feedback, and our attorneys take the time to evaluate the work done by clerks in order to help them develop their skills.
We want clerks to feel like they are part of the firm. In the past, clerks have participated in the firms social and community activities, including the MS 150 and our summer picnics. These activities allow us to get to know one another in a more casual environment.
